TROUBLESHOOTING / FIELD NOTES

Installation failed or first boot will not start

Locate the failure stage before changing disks, firmware, or desktop settings.

Based on public documentation; not hardware-tested. Match the instructions to your version and hardware.

Write down the ISO version, computer model, and exact message. A photo of the last visible screen is often more useful than “it does not boot.” Use this table to choose a branch.

Last working stage Symptom Start with
Firmware menu USB is absent USB writing and boot entry
USB selected Signature/security warning Firmware requirements
Installer running Disk or installation error Target disk and first error
Installation finished Installer opens again Boot-device selection
Disk unlock Password cannot be entered Keyboard and layout
Unlock completed Black screen Display and graphics evidence

Confirm you wrote the image with an image-writing tool rather than copying the ISO file onto a normal data volume. Try a direct USB port instead of a hub. Reopen the one-time boot menu and identify the device by name.

If writing failed, repeat it using the official image and check the tool’s result. Do not format an internal disk to fix a USB detection problem.

Read Secure Boot and UEFI and compare the exact warning with the firmware settings. Do not delete firmware keys as an experiment. A machine with required security policies needs a compatible installation plan.

Capture the first useful error and note whether it happened before or after disk formatting. If keeping Windows, recheck unallocated space and the encryption prerequisites in the dual-boot guide.

A network/download error is different from a partition error. Check connectivity for the former; do not redo partitioning to solve it. Stop repeating the install if you are unsure which disk is selected.

Check whether the computer booted the USB again. After installation has completed, restart and choose the installed system’s entry. If no entry is present, record the firmware boot list before attempting repairs. A missing boot entry alone does not prove your files were erased.

The official guide requires a wired keyboard or one with a 2.4 GHz receiver for early disk unlock; Bluetooth is not available there. Check keyboard layout and Caps Lock as well. Do not reinstall merely because the Bluetooth keyboard is unresponsive.

Note whether the screen is blank before or after unlocking, whether an external screen works, and your graphics hardware. Continue with display troubleshooting. If this began after an update on a previously working system, use update recovery instead.

Include the failure stage and observations in a help request.
